Ten Bands On The Verge

Dave Chamberlain looks at the best we have to offer locally, and handicaps their long-term breakout potential.

Feel free to use the comments to bitch and moan about anyone you feel was slighted by omission.

The End of an Error

Not Chicago related, but I' m obsessed with all things related to the rock/political axis this year.

So if anyone will be in NYC on August 12th, you can see Yo La Tengo, John Wesley Harding, Eric Bogosian, Jonathan Lethem, Rachel Dratch, hottie Chris Heinz (I'm told it's about to become required to put that word in front of his given name) and others while raising some scratch to send W back to Crawford, TX.  $35 to get in the door, there's also $100 & $250 VIP levels.

There's also word that Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, R.E.M., Pearl Jam, Steve Earle, Dixie Chicks, Bright Eyes, Death Cab For Cutie, and others will be participating in a series of shows in swing states in October that will raise money for groups like and urge people to throw the bum out.
