I've got a whole city to hold down

Weekend roundup

It's been awhile since we did this ... let us know if you appreciate having the feature back, and we'll try to do it regularly again.

In the Trib, Greg Kot interviews the Friedberger siblings, aka the Fiery Furnaces, who play tonight at the Empty Bottle. Kot describes their new disc, Blueberry Boat, as "a soundtrack for a frantic cartoon."

On the same tip, here's Josh Klein's Metromix chat with Matt Furnace.

Over in the Sun-Times, Jim DeRogatis interviews ex-Butthole Surfer Gibby Haynes (Tuesday at the Abbey), Mary Houlihan surveys the World Music Festival, and David Jakubiak gets some perspective on Lauryn Hill (Sunday, Congress Theatre) from local female MCs Ang 13, Family Tree's Rita J, and PoR.

Oh and there's something going on over at the Reader, too. More on that in a minute.
