I've got a whole city to hold down

Here comes the new boss

Local airwaves have a new contender in "Nine FM." The venture, helmed in part by WLUP oldtimer Sky Daniels, debuted yesterday under the slogan "We play anything." Sun-Times media radio/TV crit Robert Feder sez the station will buck industry norms with a relatively freeform playlist and far fewer commercials than the average - but some local radio geeks transcribed two hours of yesterday's playlist, and we've had enough already. Mellencamp into Cypress Hill. Indigo Girls into Stone Temple Pilots. "Nine FM - previously unimagined combinations of crap!"
